This week your child will bring home a catalogue for Scholastic books. Please read this with your child so you have plenty of reading material for the summer; there is a great selection! Orders should be back to school by the 30th April.
Calling all Illustrators!
A message from Civica: Civica are looking for student artwork to feature in the eBook Tales of S, and so extend an invitation to all students of your school (not just those who submitted stories) to submit artwork which illustrates the theme of ‘Honouring Singapore’s Past’. The illustrations chosen for inclusion in the book/eBook do not need to be linked directly to any particular entry, and will be chosen on the merits of the artwork itself. We would ask that a scanned image of the completed artwork be submitted to Civica by 22nd of May 2015, in pdf format with good resolution, in order for the images to be suitable for use. Please email the images as an attachment to [email protected]. We look forward to seeing the creative talents of your students expressed through their artwork, and are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to showcase examples of young artist's work alongside their literary counterparts. Before the break many students in grades 3, 4 and 5 got busy planning drafting and writing for the 2015 Civica Tales of S eBook competition. In recognition of Singapore's 50th Anniversary, the topic was "Honouring Singapore's Past". This competition is open to all schools in Singapore, and I am very proud to announce that we have not one but TWO students who have been shortlisted from ISS! Winning entries will be selected on the 8th of May... fingers crossed for both Ran Maclean from Grade 5, and Jack D from grade 3! |
